絵本「虹をさがしに」若菜真穂
“Looking for the rainbow”

僕は、このままでいいと思っていた。
食うに困らなくて、
それなりに楽しい暮らし。
これが幸せなんだと思っていた。
I thought my condition wasn’t bad.
I could eat sufficient and I could enjoy.
My life was not bad.
“This is my happy”, I thought.
でも、ある日僕は知ってしまった。
雨あがりの冬の空に、僕は見たんだ。
But one day, I knew.
After the rain in winter, I saw.
その美しいものは、僕の目にすっかりやきついてしまった。
まぶたを閉じると、いつでもあの色彩がよみがえった。
迷ったけど、僕は慣れ親しんだ場所を離れることにした。
いままで通りでもきっと幸せにはなれるけど、
あの美しいものに、もう一度僕は出会いたかった。
From that day, I couldn’t forget that beautiful thing.
Each time I close my eyes, I see that colors at any time.
At last, I went on a trip away from my familiar place.
To find that beautiful thing.
I will be happy if I remain here,
but I wanted to see it absolutely again.
そこから先は手探りで歩きまわった。
ようやくわかったのは、あの美しいものの名前が「虹」だということ。
そして、雨あがりに現れるということ。
Then I looked for that beautiful thing here and there.
Finally I understood that the name of it is “rainbow”.
And it appears after the rain.
「この雨が止んだら、見られるかな…」
おや、誰かがこちらへやってくる。
“When this rain stops, can I see the rainbow?”
Then someone is coming…
「きみはだれ？ここで何してるんだい」
「虹をさがしているの。一度見たときからずっと、頭から離れなくて」
「僕も虹をさがしてるんだ。…僕ら、いっしょだね」
「そうね」
“Who are you? What are you doing here?”
“I’m looking for the rainbow.
I can’t forget it From the moment I saw it for the first time.”
“Me too…aren’t we same?”
“Yes, certainly”
「いっしょにさがそう」
“Let’s looking for our rainbow together.”
